Privacy Policy for VideoPro - Free Video Downloader

Effective Date: June 6, 2026

Last Updated: July 14, 2026

At VideoPro, we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy details how we handle user data in connection with the VideoPro - Free Video Downloader Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). We are committed to transparency regarding how our product collects, uses, stores, and shares all user data.

1. USER DATA COLLECTION

The Extension only processes data necessary to perform its core function: detecting and downloading video and image media files at the user's request.

We process and collect the following data types:

- Website Content: The webpage URLs of supported social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo) currently viewed by the user, as well as unique media/post identifiers (e.g., Tweet IDs, YouTube Video IDs, or Vimeo Video IDs) and HTML tags of video/image elements on the page.

- User Activity (Network Monitoring): The Extension monitors network request URLs on the active tab of supported domains via the browser's webRequest API. This is strictly used to identify streaming video and audio files (such as .mp4, .webm, or streaming blobs) loading in the background as the page displays them.

No Personal, Sensitive, or Unrelated Data: We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

- Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (e.g., names, email addresses, phone numbers, ages, or identification numbers).

- Health and medical information.

- Financial and payment information (e.g., transaction history, payment credentials).

- Authentication information (e.g., passwords, login credentials, PINs).

- Personal communications (e.g., emails, chats, text messages).

- Precise location data (e.g., GPS coordinates, IP address tracking).

- Web browsing history outside the supported social media video pages.

- Other user activity metrics (we do NOT track click coordinates, scroll behavior, keystrokes, or mouse positions).

2. USER DATA HANDLING AND USAGE

All data processed or collected by the Extension is handled and used exclusively to:

1. Identify, locate, and resolve downloadable video and image assets on supported platforms.

2. Present available download qualities and options to the user via the in-browser overlay UI.

3. Pass the resolved media URLs to the browser's native download manager (chrome.downloads API) to download the file directly to your local device.

Compliance Certifications:

- No Unrelated Use: We do not use or transfer user data for any purposes that are unrelated to the Extension's single purpose (downloading video and image assets).

- No Credit Assessment: We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending/financial purposes.

3. USER DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION

- Local Client-Side Processing: All data collection, DOM inspection, and network request monitoring happen client-side directly within your web browser on your local device.

- Temporary Local Storage: The Extension uses the browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to temporarily cache detected media URLs associated with active tabs, ensuring they are ready when the user clicks the download button.

- Automatic Deletion: This cache is strictly temporary and is automatically and permanently deleted when the corresponding browser tab is closed or when the browser is closed. We do not store any user data, download history, or browsing history persistently.

- No Server Storage: We do NOT run any remote databases or servers to store or log your download history, activity, or data.

4. USER DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURES (ALL PARTIES SHARED WITH)

To locate, resolve, and parse direct video download streams from specific platforms, the Extension transmits webpage URLs or unique video/post identifiers client-side to the following third-party APIs and endpoints:

1. Cobalt API (https://cobalt.tools/api/json): For various supported social media sites, the URL of the media post is sent via an API request to cobalt.tools to locate and parse the direct high-quality media stream.

2. FxTwitter API (https://api.fxtwitter.com): For X/Twitter videos, the specific Tweet ID is sent to api.fxtwitter.com to retrieve the direct MP4 stream download link.

3. Twitter/X Syndication API (https://cdn.syndication.twimg.com): For X/Twitter videos, the specific Tweet ID is sent to cdn.syndication.twimg.com to resolve direct video stream details.

4. Piped API (https://piped.video/api/v1/streams/): For YouTube videos, the unique video identifier is sent to piped.video to retrieve direct stream URLs.

5. Vimeo Config API (https://player.vimeo.com/video/): For Vimeo videos, the unique video identifier is sent to player.vimeo.com to fetch the video configuration file containing direct stream URLs.

6. YouTube Watch Page API (https://www.youtube.com/watch): For YouTube videos, the video identifier is used to request the watch page HTML to parse direct googlevideo.com stream URLs.

Content Delivery Networks (CDNs):

When a download is initiated, the media files are fetched directly from the CDNs of the respective platforms, which include:

- Instagram (*.cdninstagram.com)

- Facebook (*.fbcdn.net)

5. EXPLICIT DATA NON-SELLING CERTIFICATION

- No Data Selling: We do NOT sell, rent, trade, lease, or commercially transfer user data to third-party advertising networks, data brokers, tracking companies, marketing agencies, or other commercial entities.

- Limited Use Policy: The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. PERMISSIONS USED AND JUSTIFICATIONS
