This Privacy Policy describes how TechDetector ("we", "our", or "the Extension") handles user information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your browsing experience remains secure.
1. Information Collection and Use TechDetector does NOT collect, store, track, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, or user information. All scanning and detection operations are executed entirely locally within your browser context.
2. Permissions Requested and Rationale The Extension requests the following permissions to function. Here is why they are needed:
activeTab: Used temporarily to access the URL and content of the currently active tab when you click the Extension icon to initiate a scan.
scripting: Used to inject a local detection script into the active page context to inspect global variables and DOM nodes (e.g., detecting React, Vue, or GSAP).
cookies: Used locally to inspect cookie names for technology indicators (e.g., detecting Shopify checkout cookies or WooCommerce sessions). No cookies are stored or sent anywhere.
webRequest: Used locally to inspect response headers (e.g., matching Server headers like "LiteSpeed" or "Apache").
3. Data Transfer and Third-Party Sharing Because the Extension operates 100% client-side, zero data is transferred over the internet. We do not share, sell, or distribute any information to third parties, ad networks, or analytical servers.
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted directly on this page, and your continued use of the Extension constitutes acceptance of those changes.
5. Contact Us If you have any questions or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy, please feel free to reach out to us through the contact details listed on our Chrome Web Store page.
